WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was "very happy" with him for encouraging members to increase their contributions to the alliance.

"I urged our NATO allies to do more to strengthen our crucial alliance and set the stage for significant increases in member contributions. Billions and billions of dollars are pouring in because of that initiative. NATO, believe me, is very happy with Donald Trump and what I did," Trump said in a speech delivered at the White House.
