US special counsel Mueller's investigators have interviewed a former senior Trump administration official, Reince Priebus, over alleged Russian meddling in last year's presidential campaign.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus has been questioned by US Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team in the investigation into Russia's alleged meddling in the 2016 presidential election, Priebus’ attorney William Burck said.

"Mr. Priebus was voluntarily interviewed by Special Counsel Mueller’s team today. He was happy to answer all of their questions," Burck stated on Friday as quoted by Politico.

On October 4, the US Senate Intelligence Committee said the panel has conducted 100 interviews, compiled 4,000 pages of transcripts and collected 100,000 pages of documents, including classified assessments, emails and other information, but has not found any evidence that President Donald Trump's associates had contacts with Russia during the November race.

The Intelligence Committee said it has scheduled 25 additional interviews in October.

Mueller's investigation is looking into whether Trump’s campaign team colluded with Russia to affect the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

Trump has dismissed the allegation as untrue and a politically-motivated witch hunt. Russia has also repeatedly denied the allegations saying they are absurd.
