WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Residents and visitors in the area will experience gusty winds and heavy rains that will likely cause floods, according to the release. In addition, the Embassy advised US citizens to monitor local weather forecasts and emergency messages.
"Environmental conditions appear generally conducive for development and a tropical depression could form later today or tonight as the system moves westwards at about 15 mph," the release said on Friday.
Earlier in the day, the National Hurricane Center estimated the first of three tropical weather systems has an 80 % chance of becoming a storm.
