President Donald Trump is considering appointing one of former Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s law partners, Geoffrey Berman, to head the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, media reported.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Berman, who is a law partner at Greenberg Traurig, was included in the list of possible nominees in July, BuzzFeed reported citing sources familiar with the matter on Monday.

The potential candidate was a member of Trump transition team. He served as an assistant US attorney in the Southern District of New York in early 1990s, the report added.

In March, Trump ordered 46 United States attorneys, the appointees of former President Barack Obama, to hand their resignation letters, including US Attorney for Manhattan Preet Bharara. Following the president's decision, Bharara announced that he was fired after he refused to step down.
