The Trump administration has no plans to take away senior adviser Jared Kushner's security clearance, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters in a news briefing Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Monday, three Democratic lawmakers in a letter to the White House called on the US government to review Kushner’s role in light of recent Russia-related reports.

"I don't know of any changes that would be made. The president has confidence in Jared," Huckabee Sanders replied when asked whether Kushner's security clearance may be revoked.

Last week, Donald Trump Jr. released private emails showing that he agreed to meet with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya during his father's election campaign. Kushner also participated in the meeting at trump Tower in New York City.

Kushner was criticized earlier this year after reports emerged he met with Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak prior to President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Democratic lawmakers have repeatedly called for Kushner’s security clearance to be revoked because he failed to disclose his meetings with Russian officials until the sessions were reported in the press.
