Trump May Pick Wall Street Lawyer Clayton as Securities Commission Chairman

US President-elect Donald Trump sees Wall Street lawyer Jay Clayton as the leading candidate to chair the Securities and Exchange Commission, local media reported citing an official working with the transition team.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Wall Street Journal reported that the announcement could be made already on Wednesday.

Trump has also considered Debra Wong Yang, a former Los Angeles US attorney, for the role of chairman.

Clayton had a meeting with Trump on December 22.

The inauguration will take place on January 20.
