"The message reportedly sent by CIA chief Brennan to his staff, as reported by the Washington Post, further supports the urgent need for an independent, bipartisan investigation," the release stated on Friday. "The American people deserve to know the truth of Russia’s brazen interference with our elections."
Earlier on Friday, The Washington Post claimed Brennan wrote in a message to employees that he has met earlier this week with FBI Director James Comey and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, "and there is strong consensus among us on the scope, nature and intent of Russian interference in our presidential election."
Outgoing President Barack Obama suggested during his last news conference also on Friday that the cyberattacks were likely initiated "at the highest levels of the Russian government."
Russian senior officials have repeatedly denied Washington’s claims of election-meddling, characterizing them as absurd and an attempt to distract the US public from pressing domestic issues.
