US House Passes Spending Bill to Avoid Government Shutdown
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat from New York, said that Democrats were going to provide the votes to pass a short-term government spending bill, according to Politico.

The bill needs sixty votes to pass in the Senate, the report stated. The needed votes are coming hours before the midnight deadline, threatening a government shutdown. The bill will fund the US federal government through April 2017.

On Thursday, the US House of Representatives passed its version of the short-term spending bill, which includes $10 billion in war funds and an additional $4 million for disaster relief.
