Individuals working in procurement for the US military should be prohibited from joining defense contracting companies that produce military equipment, President-elect Donald Trump said at a rally in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Delivering at the rally, Trump stressed that such officers should never be allowed to work for defense contractors.

"I think I’m going to impose a ban that anybody that gives out these massive military contracts should never ever be allowed to work ever, I don’t mean in five years, in ten years, [they] should never be allowed to work for those companies that make the equipment," Trump stated on Friday.

Trump also noted that if the ban was in place, the United States would see a big difference in the prices.

"Purchasing in this country is totally out of control, for everything," Trump added.

At present, the US government imposes a one-year restriction on certain individuals who have worked in procurement for the US government to then work for companies they did business with.
