The United States does not want to see man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) getting into Syria after President Barack Obama lifted restrictions on military aid, Department of State spokesman Mark Toner said in a briefing on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier on Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that MANPADS could fall into the hands of terrorists after Obama waived legal restrictions on the provision of defense articles to foreign forces in Syria.

"Our position regarding MANPADS hasn’t changed," Toner stated. "We don’t want to see that kind of weaponry getting into Syria."
