White House Hopes to Avoid US Government Shutdown
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Congressmen cleared the final legislation in a 326-96 vote, which would guarantee that the US government will not shut down until April 2017 if the US Senate approves the bill.

The measure will also enable the government to allocate $ 1 billion to the Army Corps of Engineers for flood and coastal storm protection projects.

On Wednesday, White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said in a press briefing that outgoing President Barack Obama hopes a shutdown of the US federal government can be prevented through a short-term budget mechanism, but it is still unclear whether such mechanism will be approved.
