WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The intervention of Trump in negotiating directly with Carrier to keep jobs in Vice President-Elect Mike Pence’s home state of Indiana resulted in $7 million in tax breaks from the state government.
"Six out of ten voters surveyed said Trump’s intervention to keep the manufacturer from shipping hundreds of jobs to Mexico made them view the president-elect in a more positive light," a press release explaining the poll said.
Trump even gained popularity among Americans who cast ballots for rival Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, with one in three warming to the Republican winner, the release explained.
Overall, 56 percent of voters said it is appropriate for the president to negotiate directly with companies on a case-by-case basis, and 62 percent said they would approve of the president offering tax breaks and incentives to individual businesses if it means jobs stay in the United States, the release noted.
