"Establishing unlimited contributions paired with immediate disclosure is the best way to promote transparency, eliminate the viability of Super PACs going forward, and ensure that free speech is protected in the electoral process," Cruz said in a statement on Wednesday.
The US Federal Election Commission regulating campaign finances in the United States prohibits super PACs from directly communicating with the candidates or their campaign members.
Cruz argued that existing limitations on political donations "protect incumbent politicians," and, therefore, do not prevent corruption as they should.
In 2014, Cruz introduced a similar legislation to amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to eliminate restrictions on direct contributions to presidential candidates, but the bill was not enacted by the US Congress.
