MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Donald Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said the US president-elect was magnanimous to his challenger in that he did not seek to jail Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified emails.
"This is the president-elect's position right now," she told CNN, indicating that Trump could change his mind on the issue that was one of his campaign highlights.
Conway added this was despite that the Clinton campaign had decided to back Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein in her bid to recount votes in three swing states – Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan – which gave Trump a 70-vote lead on Clinton.
"I would say he has been incredibly gracious and magnanimous to Secretary Clinton at a time when, for whatever reason, her folks are saying they will join in a recount," she said.
The FBI decided earlier this month not to recommend prosecuting the former secretary of state for using her private email address to send and receive sensitive information. Trump dubbed her "crooked Clinton" and vowed to put her behind bars once he was in the White House.
