The timing behind the US decision to approve a license to allow aircraft manufacturer Airbus to conduct business with Iran has nothing to do with President-elect Donald Trump’s transition into office, US Department of State spokesman John Kirby said in a briefing on Tuesday.

Iran to Receive Up to Eight Airbus Jets for Civil Aviation in 2016
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States announced earlier that the Treasury Department issued a license to Airbus to sell planes to Iran as obligated by the 2015 nuclear agreement between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries, consisting of the United States, Russia, France, China and the United Kingdom plus Germany.

"This decision, the one we are talking about today, had nothing to do and the timing was not at all related to our own presidential election," Kirby told reporters.
