WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The selection of US Senator Jeff Sessions for Attorney General is appalling given his history of racism, Congresswoman Barbara Lee said on Friday.
The idea of Sen. Jeff Sessions – who was rejected for a judgeship because of racist comments – leading @TheJusticeDept is appalling.

Earlier, US President-elect Donald Trump announced he had chosen Sessions to serve as the next Attorney General and praised his legal work.
In 1986, the Republican-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee rejected Sessions' nomination for a federal judgeship because of racially charged comments he made.
Sessions was elected to the Senate in 1997 after serving as Alabama Attorney General and US Attorney General for the Southern District of Alabama.
