CIA Head Nominee Pompeo Likely to Keep Close Relations With Congress

US Congressman Mike Pompeo will work closely with lawmakers on security matters as head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and will be highly supported within the agency, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes said on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier, US President-elect Donald Trump announced he had chosen Pompeo to serve as the next CIA director.

"Mike will undoubtedly develop a close working relationship with Congress in his new post," Nunes stated. "I am confident his nomination will be widely supported within the CIA."

Pompeo serves on the House Intelligence Committee and was a member of the House Select Benghazi Committee that investigated the 2012 terror attack on the US diplomatic mission in Libya.
