    Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Trump’s victory "will continue to strengthen the unique alliance between our two countries and bring it to ever greater heights," and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed hope that peace between the Jewish state and the Palestinians will be achieved during the next four years.

    WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was among the first foreign leaders to congratulate US President-elect Donald Trump, according to published reports on Friday.

    Netanyahu said Trump’s victory "will continue to strengthen the unique alliance between our two countries and bring it to ever greater heights," the New York Times reported.

    Earlier, a key ally in Netanyahu’s government, Education Minister Naftali Bennett said a Trump presidency signaled that the era of a Palestinian state is over, the newspaper reported.

    Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed hope that peace between the Jewish state and the Palestinians will be achieved during the next four years, according to the report.
