    According to media reports, speaker of the US House of Representatives Paul Ryan called Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to congratulate him on his strong showing in Tuesday’s presidential election.

    WASHINGTON, November 9 (Sputnik) — Speaker of the US House of Representatives Paul Ryan called Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to congratulate him on his strong showing in Tuesday’s presidential election, US media reported.

    “Speaker Ryan has spoken via phone with Trump and [vice presidential candidate Mike] Pence tonight; had ‘very good conversations,’ congratulated Trump,” NBC News correspondent Kelly O’Donnell reported on her Twitter page.

    With votes still being counted in some states early Wednesday, Trump was leading Democrat Hillary Clinton in the quest for 270 electoral votes.
