MOSCOW (Sputnik) According to the Omaha World-Herald newspaper, some 80 percent of Nebraskans voted to “repeal the repeal.” Lancaster County was reportedly the only county of the state to oppose the move in the Tuesday vote.

State Senator Ernie Chambers, who sponsored the bill to repeal the death penalty, reportedly said he would attempt to introduce a new bill to abolish capital punishment in January 2017.
