WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Trump is ahead of Hillary Clinton, his Democratic rival for the presidency, with slightly more than 50 percent against her 43 percent, preliminary results reported by CNN showed, based on more than 60 percent of votes counted.
Iowa, in the US Midwest, is worth six electoral votes. A total of 270 electoral votes are needed for a candidate to win the US presidency.
