MOSCOW (Sputnik) — New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who heads Donald Trump’s presidential transition team, voted for the Republican Party’s presidential candidate as soon as the polling stations in Mendham borough, New Jersey, opened on Tuesday, media reported.
Christie voted for Trump at the Mendham borough polling station at 6:06 a.m. local time (11:06 GMT) after it had opened at 6:00 a.m., according to the official website of the state of New Jersey.
On Friday, former Christie administration officials Bill Baroni and Bridget Kelly were found guilty by a federal court jury of fraud and conspiracy charges for helping orchestrate the September 2013 closure of toll lanes on the George Washington Bridge between New Jersey and New York City. Christie insisted that, despite trial evidence, he had nothing to do with the traffic troubles.
