The United States’ relations with Russia and other countries after the 2016 election will largely depend on the new president’s advisors, former US congressman and two-time candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination Dennis Kucinich told Sputnik.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) —The both candidates are influenced to certain extent by people that are determined to expand American power "at any cost," Kucinich said.

"A number of his [Trump’s] advisors are people who are wedded to a type of thinking that would expand American power at any cost but so is Hillary Clinton influenced by those kind of people," the ex-congressman said when asked if the Republican nominee would follow through on his pledges to improve the US relations with Russia. "It is going to depend on who the next president surrounds himself or herself with, although I think that Donald Trump is probably much less inclined to go to war."
