Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton is expected to win the US Electoral College by a 108-vote margin over Republican rival Donald Trump in Tuesday’s presidential election, according to an analysis by Emerson College.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Based on its review of polls — its own as well as those of website RealClearPolitics — in electoral swing states, Emerson said Clinton will defeat Trump in New Hampshire, Florida and Nevada. Trump is anticipated to win Ohio, Iowa, and Missouri, the release predicted.

"Emerson College Polling is predicting that Hillary Clinton will win the Electoral College by a lopsided margin of 323-215," a press release accompanying Tuesday’s analysis stated.

Emerson also forecast that Democrats will win at least 50 seats in the US Senate, which would be enough for the party to take the majority of seats in the chamber if Clinton is elected president.

The Electoral College, whose 538 votes equal the number of congressional representatives and senators, consists of state-level electors who formally choose the president and vice president based on popular-vote results. A candidate needs at least 270 electoral votes to become president.
