US intelligence alerted joint terrorism task forces that al-Qaeda terrorist group may be planning attacks in the United States on November 7, a day before the presidential election, according to CBS citing sources.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Al-Qaeda could be planning terrorist attacks for November 7 in Texas, Virginia and New York, the media reported.

“The FBI, working with our federal, state and local counterparts, shares and assesses intelligence on a daily basis and will continue to work closely with law enforcement and intelligence community partners to identify and disrupt any potential threat to public safety,” a senior FBI official told CBS News.

According to the television network, the US authorities are taking the threat seriously, although its credibility has not been confirmed.

The US presidential election will take place on November 8.
