MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US police on Wednesday identified an attacker, who had ambushed and killed two police officers in the Des Moines suburb of Urbandale, Iowa, local media reported.
Earlier in the day, two officers were killed in their patrol cars upon arrival at the scene of reported shooting.
Police identified Scott Michael Greene, 46, as a shooter, who could be "armed and dangerous," The Des Moines Register newspaper reported.
The newspaper added that police urged local residents to call 911 if they saw Greene or his truck and not to approach the suspect.
According to the media outlet, this is the first time, when the police officers were shot to death in the line of duty in Des Moines since 1977.
