US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton leads Republican Donald Trump 46 percent to 43 percent in a two-way race, according to a new poll.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has a three-point lead over Republican Donald Trump following revelations of emails possibly involving the former secretary of state’s private server, a new poll of likely voters showed Monday.

“Clinton leads Trump 46 percent to 43 percent in a two-way race,” a summary of the Politico/Morning Consult poll stated.

Also in the poll, 39 percent of respondents said the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) additional review of emails potentially tied to Clinton had no effect on their choice for president, while 33 percent said it made them much less likely to vote for her.

The poll was conducted using an online panel of probable voters over the weekend, soon after Friday’s disclosure to Congress by FBI Director James Comey that the bureau had discovered emails relevant to its investigation into Clinton’s use, as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, of a private email server. FBI investigators will determine whether the emails contain classified information, Comey wrote in a letter to lawmakers.

An earlier Politico/Morning Consult poll, conducted before Comey's announcement, had Clinton leading Trump by five points, so the latest survey suggests there has been no dramatic effect on the US presidential campaign just over a week before the November 8 election.
