US first lady Michelle Obama, in her first campaign appearance with Hillary Clinton, said the Democratic nominee is the most qualified, best prepared presidential candidate in the nation's history.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — North Carolina remains a battleground state with only 11 days until US voters go to the polls on November 8.

“Yeah that’s right, Hillary doesn't play,” Obama told Clinton supporters at a rally Thursday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. “She has more experience and exposure to the presidency than any candidate in our lifetime — yes, more than Barack, more than Bill.”

In portraying Clinton as more prepared for the Oval Office than either current US President Barack Obama or his predecessor Bill Clinton, the first lady echoed a point her husband made at the Democratic Party’s national convention in July.

Michelle Obama went on to tell the crowd at Wake Forest University that Clinton is ready to be the US commander in chief on Day One, and that “yes, she happens to be a woman.”

She also took a jab at Republican candidate Donald Trump for remarks last week at his own North Carolina rally that the first lady is too involved in Clinton’s campaign. Obama, a designate Clinton campaign surrogate, replied by saying her active role is due to the importance of the 2016 White House race.
