WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Sunday, Trump claimed that the operation to retake the Iraqi city of Mosul from the Daesh was turning out to be a total disaster, less than a week after the assault began.
The Pentagon as well as the US-led coalition repeatedly said that the operation to liberate Mosul has been moving ahead of schedule.
Trump also claimed that the assault was launched to help Clinton win the presidential race.
On October 17, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi announced the start of the military operation. More than 30,000 Iraqi and 4,000 Kurdish fighters are taking part in the offensive, backed by about 5,000 US troops and coalition airstrikes.
"I'm not going to belabor why this other guy [Trump] is not qualified to hold this office, because every time he talks you get more proof," a White House pool report quoted Obama as saying.
