The US embassy in Haiti issued a warning to the US citizens of a prison break in Arcahaie.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The US embassy in Haiti issued a warning to the US citizens of a violent prison break in Arcahaie, asking them to stay away from the area, a press release said.

"The Embassy has been informed of a violent prision [sic!] break in Arcahaie on Route National 1. All U.S. Citizens are advised to avoid the area," the press release said.

The defense forces have been dispatched to search about 180 inmates, who escaped from prison on Saturday, killing a guard.

The embassy advised the US citizens to remember that even peaceful demonstrations in Haiti can turn dangerous.

The prison break occurred as Haiti was still struggling with the destruction wreaked by the hurricane Matthew that tore through the island in the beginning of October.
