Donald Trump could meet with Vladimir Putin before inauguration in case he wins the forthcoming US presidential elections.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Donald Trump could meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin before inauguration if he wins the forthcoming presidential elections in the United States, the US Republican presidential nominee said.

"If I win on November 8… I could see myself meeting with Putin and meeting with Russia prior to the start of the administration…. I think it would be wonderful," he said Monday as quoted by the Politico news outlet.

Trump added that the current approach of the US Democratic Party leadership to the Russian president is counterproductive.

"They insult him constantly, no wonder he can't stand [Barack] Obama and Hillary Clinton," Trump pointed out.

The US presidential elections are scheduled to take place on November 8, if Trump wins the elections he will take office on January 20. The main candidates for the post of the country's leader are Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Hilary Clinton.
