MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A raid is said to be underway near a transit station in Elizabeth, New Jersey where one of five purported pipe bombs detonated during an attempt to render the device safe.

"Law enforcement officials say that they are concerned there MAY be an active terror cell in the NY/NJ area," NBC News said on its Twitter account.

Reports indicated earlier that five people were being questioned over a Saturday explosion in New York City that lightly wounded 29 people.

The explosion has not been officially linked to terrorism, but is believed to be intentional. A second and third "suspicious" objects have been reportedly found in the follow-up police operation.
