WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Congressman and Chairman of the House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee Mike McCaul said he misspoke in an interview Wednesday night when he claimed hackers breached the Republican National Committee (RNC).

"I misspoke by asserting that the RNC was hacked," McCaul said in a statement. "What I had intended to say was that in addition to the DNC [Democratic National Committee] hack, Republican political operatives have also been hacked."
