Surprise? The New York Times refuted CNN's claims that it had been targeted by some Russian hackers.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The New York Times has not been compromised by Russian cyberattacks despite US media reports to the contrary, the newspaper’s spokesperson Eileen Murphy said in a statement.

"We have seen no evidence that any of our internal systems, including our systems in the Moscow bureau, have been breached or compromised," Murphy said as quoted by The Hill on Wednesday.

CNN Strikes Again: Blames NYT Hack on Russians, Provides Zero Evidence
On Tuesday, CNN, citing unnamed US officials, claimed that investigators believe Russian intelligence was behind successful cyberattacks at The New York Times and other US media organizations.

Murphy explained that the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is looking into an attempted breach of the newspaper, but has no similar probes at other US news organizations.

Additionally, Murphy denied CNN’s claims that The New York Times had hired private security companies to assist the FBI investigation.

Snowden Scoffs at Accusations of Russian Hand in US Democrats' Scandal
In July, US media alleged that investigators blamed Russian-linked hackers for a breach of the Democratic National Committee email system that revealed party officials colluded to support US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s election campaign. Moscow called the allegations “absurd.”

Despite public accusations from US politicians, including the Clinton campaign and its surrogates, intelligence officials have not provided evidence linking Russia to the breaches.
