The Painful Truth of Opioid Addiction
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — President Barack Obama said he signed a bill into a law on Friday that aims to counter the country’s opioid addiction crisis.

"Today, I signed… the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 into law," Obama stated. "This legislation includes some modest steps to address the opioid epidemic."

Every day, Obama noted, 78 Americans die from opioid-related overdoses, and there are not enough facilities to handle the amount of care needed.

The US president added that he is deeply disappointed Republicans blocked $920 million in addiction treatment funding.
