WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The declassification of 28 pages of a joint congressional inquiry links between the Saudi Arabian government and the 9/11 terrorist attacks will not compromise the relationship between Washington and Riyadh, US Department of State spokesperson Elizabeth Trudeau stated at a press briefing on Friday.
"We have robust cooperation with Saudi [Arabia on counterterrorism, regional challenges, economics [and] energy. Our cooperation on those areas will not change," Trudeau told reporters.
FBI documents reveal that suspected Saudi intelligence officer Omar al-Bayoumi substantially assisted two 9/11 hijackers, according to 28 pages of a US government report on the 9/11 terrorist attacks released on Friday.
"FBI files suggest that al-Bayoumi provided substantial assistance to [9/11] hijackers Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi,” the report stated.
