The New York authorities will increase police presence in the city after the deadly truck attack in Nice, France, New York Police Department (NYPD) said in a statement on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — New York City Police Department Commissioner William Bratton said there are no credible threats to the city at the present moment.

"New Yorkers will see an even larger number of officers on the street protecting NYC, since Nice attack," the police stated in a message on Twitter.

On Thursday night, a truck rammed into a large crowd that was celebrating Bastille Day in Nice. At least 84 people, including children, were killed and dozens of others were injured.

The driver was shot dead by police. According to identification documents found inside the truck, the driver was a 31-year-old male resident of Nice of Tunisian origin. It is unclear whether he had any accomplices.
