NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Five Dallas police officers were shot and killed at a protest in the city that took place following the death of two black men who were killed by police in separate incidents in Louisiana and Minnesota.
"On Friday, Mayor de Blasio will attend an NYPD senior leadership meeting at One Police Plaza to discuss the events in Dallas," the statement said.
Flags in New York City will fly-half staff to honor police officers who became victims of the recent shooting in Dallas, Texas, de Blasio’s press office said in a statement.
"All flags to fly half-staff effective today in honor of victims of violence in Dallas," the statement said.
US President Barack Obama said earlier in the day the deadly attack on police had been calculated, and pledged all those involved in the shooting would be held accountable.
Obama said the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was in touch with the Dallas police over the attack.
