US President Barack Obama vouched for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to take over his job during their first joint campaign appearance in Charlotte, North Carolina.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Clinton served as US secretary of state under the presidency of Obama from 2009 until 2013.

"There has never been any man or woman more qualified for this [US president’s] office than Hillary Clinton," Obama stated on Tuesday.

The president explained that the former secretary of state "has been tested."

"She [Clinton] has seen up close what’s involved in making those decisions, she has participated in the meetings in which those decisions have been made and she’s seen the consequences of those decisions."

Vice President Joe Biden will be campaigning with Clinton for the first time on Friday.
