WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Clinton leads Trump 48 — 43 percent among registered US voters compared to 49 — 41 percent last week, according to NBC News/Survey Monkey poll.
The poll also found that if the Republicans were able to stop Trump from receiving the party’s nomination at the national convention later in July, the general election race is much closer among other potential contenders.
A Clinton match-up with previous Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is a 45-45 tie, according to the poll. If Clinton were matched against House Speaker Paul Ryan or Ohio Governor John Kasich, she would be behind by two points and eight points respectively.
The Republican National Convention will take place at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on July 18 to 21, while the US presidential election is scheduled for November 8, 2016.
