A terminal at New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport has reopened after the authorities conducted an evacuation due to a suspicious bag that was left unattended, New York/New Jersey Port Authority spokesperson Joe Pentangelo said in a statement.

NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Earlier on Tuesday, authorities responded to a suspicious unattended bag left in the departure area of Terminal 5. The area was evacuated and a bomb squad was called to the scene.

"PAPD [Port Authority Police Department] cleared the package and Terminal 5 resumed normal operations," Pentangelo stated on Wednesday.
