Flooding in Texas has led to the death of at least 12 people, including the five Fort Hood soldiers who died on Thursday when their Army truck flipped during a flash flood, The Huffington Post reports.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Four soldiers are still missing after the Thursday truck accident, The Huffington Post said on Friday.

State of Disaster Declared After Floods Hit 31 Counties Across Texas
The Fort Hood press service said on Thursday that the emergency services of the military base, as well as local and state (Texas) agencies were involved in the search for the missing servicemen using aircraft, canine search teams, heavy-ground equipment, swift-water rescue watercraft and search personnel.

The soldiers were taking part in training activities when they were swept from the road on Thursday morning.

The US state of Texas has been affected by major rain storms and floods. Governor Greg Abbott has declared a state of emergency in 31 of the state’s counties.
