Less than one hour after a US Thunderbird F-16 crashed in Colorado, a Blue Angel jet crashed in Tennessee.

The incident occurred at Smyrna Airport, 20 miles southeast of Nashville. The pilot was killed, though the cause of the crash remains unknown.

Emergency services are on the scene.

Earlier on Thursday, a US Air Force jet crashed in a field after flying over an academy graduation ceremony at which President Barack Obama was in attendance.

The US Navy has announced that the Blue Angels will not perform an air show scheduled for this weekend.
