Congressman: TPP Deal to Exact $24Bln From US Manufacturing Sector Annually
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The TPP deal to create a free trade area among 12 Pacific Rim countries was signed in February but it needs to b ratified by national parliaments. In the United States, the Republican Party controls both houses of Congress and has been vocal in its opposition to the pact.

"I remain confident we are going to get it done, and the reason I’m confident is because it is the right thing to do. It’s good for the country, it’s good for America, it’s good for the region, it’s good for the world," Obama said at a joint press conference with Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang in Hanoi.

Vietnam is one of the parties to the TPP pact, alongside Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru and Singapore. Together they make up 40 percent of the world’s gross domestic product.
