WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Porter, part of the US 6th Fleet, is forward deployed to Rota Spain "in support of US national security interests in Europe," the release explained.
The Navy gave no other details.
The Porter is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, featuring the Aegis battle management system.
Arleigh Burke-class destroyers are capable of multiple missions ranging from anti-submarine warfare to managing a system of rocket interceptors designed to shoot down enemy ballistic missiles.
