Alabama Firm Wins $128Mln US Missile Defense Management Contract
US defense contractor Veterans Technology will provide strategic planning and financial management for US missile defenses under new contracts, the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) announced in a statement.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The MDA said the $128.8 million contract will involve work at eight locations throughout the United States.
"The government selected for award the most advantageous proposal representing the best value to the government," the statement said.
Proliferation of ballistic missiles poses an increasing threat to the United States and its allies. More than 30 countries have, or are acquiring, ballistic missile technology that could eventually be used to carry not just conventional warheads, but also weapons of mass destruction, according to NATO.
The US government has stated that of particular concern are recent missile tests by Iran and North Korea, including the launch of a short-range missile by Pyongyang on Friday.
