Communications between the US National Security Agency (NSA) and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton show she repeatedly tried to obtain unsecure devices for use in government business, according to emails released by the US Department of State.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Despite prior security concerns and cost, the NSA tried to modify Blackberry mobile phones to comply with Clinton’s repeated demands for the devices, according to a February 20, 2009 State Department email released on Thursday.

"Pat Donovan [head of Bureau of Diplomatic Security] tasked us [State Department] with a memo that he wanted by today and that we finished last night," the email stated.

The Bureau of Diplomatic Security "outlines the vulnerabilities and risks" of Blackberry use inside and outside a sensitive compartmented information facility because they’re essentially the same, according to the email.

The memo finished with a statement that Clinton staffers’ collaboration with the NSA seeks "an acceptable solution" for their desired Blackberry use.

Despite the NSA’s security warning, Clinton and her staff members continued to use the Blackberrys outside sensitive compartmented information facilities.

Other emails between Clinton staffers and the NSA showed the agency's attempts to modify devices for the then secretary of state.

Yet another email shows Clinton used her personal unsecured account and server earlier than she has acknowledged.

Clinton has said she did not use the clintonemail.com server before March 2009, but at least one email in the cache, dated a month earlier, came from her personal address.

In August 2015, Clinton declared under penalty of perjury she gave the State Department all emails from her personal account that could be federal records.

Judicial Watch obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed with the State Department.
