WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The United States indicted seven Iranian hackers working on behalf of the Iranian government, who conspired to launch a series of cyberattacks against individuals in the US financial sector and effected millions of dollars in damage, US Attorney General Loretta Lynch said during a press conference on Thursday.
"Today we have unsealed an indictment against seven alleged experienced hackers employed by computer security companies working on behalf of the Iranian government, including the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp," Lynch stated.
She added that a grand jury in New York State has found the alleged hackers "conspired to conduct a series" of attacks against civilians in the US financial sector, which cost the victims "tens of millions of dollars."
