US Senate Democrat Richard Durbin claims that Russia should continue to fight against terrorism after pulling out of Syria.

HAVANA (Sputnik) — Russia should continue to fight against terrorism after pulling out of Syria, top US Senate Democrat Richard Durbin told Sputnik.

"I hope that [Russian President] Vladimir Putin, even though he is reducing his military commitment in Syria, will continue his commitment to anti-terrorism," Durbin stated on Tuesday.

Durbin’s comments came hours after Daesh claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s deadly terror attacks in the Belgian capital of Brussels that claimed at least 34 lives.

The senator added the international community should cooperate more in fight against terrorism.

"We need the coordinated effort of all of the peace-loving countries to stop this outrageous terrorism that has been perpetrated by ISIS," Durbin explained.

On March 15, Putin announced a withdrawal of its air group from Syria after five and a half months of military action but said the Russian Air Force will continue to carry out airstrikes against Daesh positions.
