Texas police say they’ve arrested the wife of a Ukrainian pianist on charges of murdering the couple’s two daughters.

According to the police report, an arrest warrant has been served on Sofya Tsygankova, the estranged wife of the Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko.

On Thursday, the children, 5-year-old Nika Kholodenko and 1-year-old Michela Kholodenko, were reportedly found slain in their beds in Benbrook, a suburb of Fort Worth, Texas. Tsygankova was also found there, with multiple knife injuries and in an "extreme state of distress."

Tsygankova currently remains in a Fort Worth hospital for a mental health evaluation. It is unknown whether her knife wounds were self-inflicted.

Vadym Kholodenko is an internationally renowned Ukrainian pianist, who moved to Texas from Moscow after the start of the military conflict in Ukraine. He won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth in 2013.
